Horses are complicated, beautiful, amazing animals that require a lot of care and attention.

EQUINE
ASSISTED THERAPY
"everyone needs someone to talk with"
Kids Club/Teens Club
Equine Assisted Therapy is an evidence-based therapy that uses the miniature horse as the therapist, along with an equine professional as the facilitator, taking place in a small tranquil, outdoor environment such as an arena, or small pen.
We do not offer riding lessons, we are on the ground learning, this provides for a more authentic relationship between the equine and the participant, working with miniature horses in their natural manner, as if you are part of the heard.
Our miniature horses notice cues indicative of a person's emotional state such as breathing, heart rate, body language, facial expressions, tone of voice and even scent.
The feedback they provide will assist in gaining insight into thoughts, feelings and behaviors as they are happening in the moment.
The facilitator helps connect these experiences to challenges the child or teen may be facing. You will have the opportunity to practice different skills such as problem solving, decision-making, calming skills and communication skills that can be generalized and applied to increasing satisfaction in your relationship and daily life.
Not surprisingly, most children and teens form a close relationship with their equine partner. This relationship further motivates them to engage in different activities with their equine designed to promote movement towards achieving their goals.
An Individual Therapy Plan
is created for each participant.
MENTORSHIP
"mentoring matters"
The roles of mentors vary greatly depending on the type, focus, structure, and participants. The role of the Mentor may also change over the course of the relationship.
These roles may include acting as:
-
a role model
-
a supporter or cheerleader
-
an advocate
-
a friend
Mentoring helps children/teens interpret and manage life's challenges, including relationships, with peers and parents, helps develop social and emotional skills, increases graduation rates, increases self-esteem, self-confidence.
Research has long demonstrated that youth benefit from close, caring relationships with adults who serve as positive role models.
Over the past decade, Mentoring has become both a prevention and an intervention strategy.
